"A lot of people say it's expensive but at £23-24 i don't think it's expensive at all seeing as it last's for up to a year in the fridge. In my case, it's really helped my Leo's that didn't have much of an appetite. One of my girls was only eating about 4 mealies everyday for a good month or so, till a friend suggested the use of Reptaid...Within a week she started to eat upwards of 15+ every night and is still going strong. It's had similar affect on my other Leo's, as well as this it CAN kill some parasites. But i wouldn't advocate the use of it instead of taking your rep to the Vet to get it properly wormed. I've recommended it to a few people on here who have also had great results from it. To add to it further Earth-Angel had a Leo who was bound with eggs and nothing was helping her pass them, with a couple of days of Reptaid use, plop out come the eggs lol. I'm quite sure Mal has also experienced a similar scenario. So if you want to give your reptile a boost I highly recommend the stuff! - nsn89, Winchester - "

Organic with Antioxidants

An Herbal Dietary Supplement to aid normalize the thyroid gland!

Hypothyroidism:

Hypothyroidism refers to any condition in which the thyroid gland produces too little thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism is the most common endocrine disease in dogs. Symptoms may include weight gain with no change in diet, feeling run down, slow, depressed, sluggish, cold, or tired and having dry skin and hair loss, constipation, muscle cramps, slow heart rate and infertility. Some pets have swelling in the front of the neck due to thyroid enlargement (a goiter).

In most cases, hypothyroidism is caused by a condition called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, in which a pets immune system attacks and destroys the thyroid. Hypothyroidism can also be caused by treatment of hyperthyroidism or by certain medications, and it may be present from birth. The thyroid may temporarily become under active after pregnancy or if it is inflamed due to a viral infection. Finally, a problem with the pituitary gland can cause hypothyroidism.

Hyperthyroidism:

Hyperthyroidism refers to any condition in which the body has too much thyroid hormone. These hormones regulate the body's metabolic rate and affect every system in the body.

Hyperthyroidism is rare in dogs but is the most common endocrine (hormone) disorder that affects cats.

The onset occurs most commonly in middle to old-age cats with a reported range between 4 and 22 years. Five percent of these cats develop hyperthyroidism before age eight. The breed or sex does not appear to be a tendency.

Symptoms may include:

Weight loss

Nervousness

Irritability

Increased bowel movements

Fine brittle hair (hair loss)

Muscular weakness

Increased food consumption

Vomiting

Increased water consumption

Increased activity

Tremors

Labored breathing

Loss of appetite

Racing heart is common in cats. Heart mummers and high blood pressure can occur.

Diagnosis:

There are no symptoms unique to thyroiditis. If the thyroiditis causes slow and chronic thyroid cell damage and destruction, leading to a fall in thyroid hormone levels in the blood, the symptoms would be those of hypothyroidism.

If the thyroiditis causes rapid thyroid cell damage and destruction, the thyroid hormone that is stored in the gland leaks out, increasing thyroid hormone levels in the blood, and produces symptoms of thyrotoxicosis, which are similar to hyperthyroidism.

A veterinarian will perform blood tests to check the TSH levels. Other blood tests will be performed to conclude the baseline prediction of the out of normal range TSH levels in the first test.

Standard Treatment:

Hypothyroidism is easier to treat than hyperthyroidism. A veterinarian will put your pet on a synthetic thyroid hormone for the rest of its life. A veterinarian will look at 3 alternatives with hyperthyroidism. The vet will prescribe an anti-thyroid drug, surgically remove the thyroid or treat with radioactive iodine.

Amber Technology’s TYD

Amber Technology’s TYD was created specifically to aid in the normalizing of the thyroid gland. In cases of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism TYD as a dietary supplement has proven itself effective to help the thyroid gland stop over-producing or under-producing the thyroid hormones.

For each one ounce bottle, the number of pets that receive a full ten day course of TYD is determined by calculating the total absolute dose based on weight (see chart).

The standard dose of TYD is administered orally up to 3 times daily as needed.  TYD may be used for many months with clinical drug holidays (break) as directed for under-active or over-active thyroid disorders.

When treating more than one pet with the same dropper, it is necessary to assure sterile administration without carry over from pet to pet. The best way to assure this is to use the dropper only to transfer product to an individual sterile oral syringe—a different syringe for each pet. Those syringes should be sterilized after each use. Each pet should have its own syringe that is not shared with another pet. If a syringe is not readily available, until one can be found, one may mix the product with a larger volume of flavored fluid (e.g. tuna or salmon water) that is to be lapped from a bowl. However, the use of a syringe assures a more accurate dose.

Long Term Use:

After the first six months of long term use, up to three times daily administration, a two week holiday (break) from product is mandated before re-starting the same rotating schedule. TYD may be administered as described for up to three consecutive six month cycles.

If further TYD is deemed necessary for the pet, then a minimum six month period off product is mandated, as is clinical discussion with your veterinary health care provider or with the staff at Amber Technology concerning re-administration of TYD beyond that time period.

WARNING:

DO NOT USE TYD WITH: Derma NERV, Kidney Rejuvenator, Numo CARE.

Keep TYD out of the reach of children under 16 years of age. One must not exceed the daily recommended dose. It is important to weigh your pet before administration of this product to obtain accurate daily dosing. This product is safe and effective when given as directed. The dosing guidelines must be followed exactly as written.

Overdose of this product can cause side effects, to include irritability, change in behavior, reduced consciousness, vomiting and subsequent dehydration, or stupor. Idiosyncratic reactions (not related to dose) include but are not limited to allergic reaction, which may manifest as cutaneous erythema (red skin), hives, periorbital swelling (around the eyes), serious breathing problems due to laryngeal edema and glottal closure, or a combination of more than one of these.

At the first sign of adverse reaction, to include even the more innocuous, one must cease any further use of this product and immediately avail oneself to emergency consultation concerning these adverse effects, which may include emergency assessment.

One should have all of the appropriate emergency contact information readily available before starting this or any nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or nutritional supplement. It is recommended that the pet owner, the novice in particular, discuss the use and side effect profile of this and any product with his or her veterinary health care provider.

Co-administration of TYD with other agents must be done with caution. Co-administration with pharmaceutical medications is considered safe in most instances, with no known exceptions. Both normal dosing and overdosing of this product in a pregnant dog statistically increases the risk of miscarriage. Therefore, the benefits of product are outweighed by its risks in the pregnant dog.

Use of this drug in the presence of endocrine pancreatic dysfunction (e.g. diabetes mellitus or acute infectious pancreatitis) is contraindicated. Evidence of liver disease is a relative contraindication due to the presence of ethyl alcohol in this product (alcohol may be removed by protocol). All benefits and risks of this product should be weighed appropriately before use.
