"I participated in your study for heart worm treatment with our dog named Lexie. We finished the treatment in Sept and tested heart worm positive at that time. Lexie was tested this week, Feb 8, during routine checkup for vaccinations and tested heart worm negative. We continued giving Lexie HWF throughout the treatment. This treatment seemed to be much gentler on the dog compared to traditional treatment. The primary challenge was getting her to accept the twice daily doses due to the taste/smell. She would actually run from us when she smelled the solution. Thank you for an alternative to traditional treatment which is ordinarily expensive and as potentially lethal as the heart worm disease.

PNEUMONIA
An inflammatory illness of the lung. Many things can cause this condition such as:
·Fluid build up
·An infection
·Aspiration of liquid into the lung
·An irritant such as smoke
·Secondary to another system failure (especially the heart).
·Infections of the lungs can be caused by bacteria, Viruses, parasitical or fungi.
·Neuromuscular disorders that cause difficulty swallowing or paralysis of the esophagus can also lead to aspiration pneumonia. This condition is uncommon in cats.
·Allergic Pneumonia (the result of extreme infiltration of the lung by inflammatory cells in the absence of infection.)
The diagnosis of pneumonia hinges on the chest radiograph but knowing when to take chest radiographs can be tricky. The veterinarian must put together findings from the history, physical examination, and possibly response to initial therapies to decide if radiographs should be checked.
Coughing is a hallmark symptom, though certainly not all coughing pets (or even most coughing pets) have pneumonia. Bacterial pneumonia does not just happen; it is virtually always caused by something else so some kind of diagnostics will need to be determined as to what led to the bacterial pneumonia if it is not readily apparent.
TREATMENT
If one suspects a lung disorder, a veterinarian should be contacted at once.
The pet may be in one of three stages:
Stable (in other words, eating well and active despite a nasty cough. These pets can often be treated at home.) Amber Technology has developed products to help your pet overcome pneumonia. Numo CARE to stabilize your pets cough, Vibactra Plus to rid the body of viral, bacterial or microscopic parasitical infections and Life Cell Support to detox the body from the illness causing the pneumonia.
Unstable (poor appetite, inactive, in need of hospitalization.)
Critical (unable to get enough oxygen into their systems. These pets require oxygen therapy and possibly 24 hour care. When the pet is stable then home treatment is available for several weeks. When the pet is eating well, he or she may be discharged as the pet is coughing, with oral antibiotics, a regimen of physical therapy, and a schedule for re-check radiographs (usually weekly).
The hospitalized pet will have the following needs:
Intravenous fluid therapy
Antibiotic therapy
Nebulization
Physical Therapy
Oxygen Therapy
Home Care:
Do not allow prolonged exposure to extreme cold or wet weather. Keep your pet primarily indoors.
Consider use of a vaporizer for 15-20 minute intervals a couple times daily. If you do not have a vaporizer, leave the pet in the bathroom with the shower on to create a misty vapor. Perform coupage at least 4 times daily and allow light exercise to promote the cough. Do not try to suppress the cough with over-the-counter cough suppressants. We want the infected material in the chest to be coughed up (Coupage is helpful at mobilizing respiratory secretions. The therapist’s hand is cupped and gently but rapidly taps the patient’s chest wall repeatedly. This loosens some of the deeper secretions and helps the animal move the airways. Material in the airway generates coughing which removes these materials from the body.) Use the antibiotics as directed. Expect several weeks for recovery. Know when you should return for re-check on the radiographs.
NUMO CARE:
Numo CARE has been created to help pets fight the battle with pneumonia. Keep in mind the coughing can be difficult to listen to but it is productive---try not to give any cough suppressant. Veterinarian health care may be necessary if pet continues to worsen.
Numo CARE has been known to help treat asthma. Be sure to seek immediate veterinarian health care assistance if your pet continues to worsen or if your pet cannot breath.

*For heavier pets, add 5 drops for each 100 lbs increment. Shake Well Before Each Use
For each one ounce bottle, the number of pets that receive a full ten day course of Numo-CARE is determined by calculating the total absolute dose based on weight (see nomogram).
The standard dose of Numo CARE is administered orally 3-4 times daily as needed.
When treating more than one pet with the same dropper, it is necessary to assure sterile administration without carry over from pet to pet. The best way to assure this is to use the dropper only to transfer product to an individual sterile oral syringe—a different syringe for each pet. Those syringes should be sterilized after each use. Each pet should have its own syringe that is not shared with another pet. If a syringe is not readily available, then until one can be found, then one may mix the product with a larger volume of flavored fluid (e.g. tuna or salmon water) that is to be lapped from a bowl. However, the use of a syringe assures a more accurate dose.
Long Term Use:
Co-administration of Numo-CARE with Vibactra Plus and other Amber Technology products are short term. However, there are clinical settings in which these products are utilized beyond a ten day regimen. Numo-CARE may be used for many months with clinical drug holidays (breaks) as directed for upper respiratory conditions.
For the first six months of long term use, twice daily Numo-CARE is administered on rotating basis—6 weeks of product administration followed by five days in which no product is given. This 6 weeks on / 5 days off staggered schedule may continue as needed for the first six months of chronic use, defined as chronic after the initial ten days of administration. Administration of Numo-CARE beyond six months mandates a two week holiday from product before re-starting the same rotating schedule. Numo-CARE may be administered as described for up to three consecutive six month cycles.
If further Numo-CARE is deemed necessary for the pet, then a minimum six month period off product is mandated, as is clinical discussion with your veterinary health care provider or with the staff at Amber Technology concerning re-administration of Numo-CARE beyond that time period.
WARNING:
Keep Numo CARE out of the reach of children under 16 years of age. One must not exceed the daily recommended dose. It is important to weigh your pet before administration of this product to obtain accurate daily dosing. The safety profile for Numo CARE has not been established in pregnant or nursing animals and its use should be avoided in those cases. Cats Claw tends to lower blood pressure, which is relevant in the context of infected animal’s baseline cardiovascular status, which tends towards low blood pressure when septic. Administration of Numo CARE includes specifically-prescribed interruptions in its use. Continuous use of Numo CARE without appropriate scheduled interruption is to be avoided, as it is associated with clinically significant listlessness. As with any Nutraceutical or pharmaceutical product, Numo CARE may cause an allergic reaction that may manifest as either skin redness, urticaria (hives), peri-orbital edema (swelling around the eyes), or as potentially serious respiratory dysfunction associated with laryngeal edema. Any suggestion of allergic reaction, even the most subtle, should alert the pet owner or veterinary health care provider to cease any further administration of Numo CARE and to assess for interventional measures for such a reaction. One should have all of the appropriate emergency contact information readily available before starting this or any Nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or nutritional supplement. For any questions concerning a potential allergic reaction or the adverse reaction of listlessness should be addressed by immediately contacting your veterinary health care provider. Use of this drug in the presence of endocrine pancreatic dysfunction (e.g. diabetes mellitus or acute infectious pancreatitis) is contraindicated. Evidence of liver disease is a relative contraindication due to the presence of ethyl alcohol in this product (alcohol may be removed by protocol). All benefits and risks of this product should be weighed appropriately before use. Avoid product if allergic to aspirin or diabetic. Do not give more than 14 days at a time. Do not use this product in addition to Amber Technology’s TYD and Pet’s Cough & Cold Formula. For oral use only.
