Parvo Or Parvovirus

What Is Parvo and is there a treatment?

Parvovirus is a highly contagious viral disease that usually affects puppies more than adult dogs. The virus attacks the intestinal lining causing bloody diarrhea and other symptoms. In some cases, parvo can infect the heart and lead to sudden death of puppies. For a comprehensive look at parvovirus, download Self Help Guide to Treating Your Dog with Parvo

HOW PARVOVIRUS IS CONTRACTED AND SPREAD
Parvo is spread through direct or indirect contact with infected dog feces or vomit. It can be brought into your yard on your tires or on your feet or clothing after handling an infected animal. It can be passed from yard to yard by birds carrying the virus.

Parvo spreads rapidly and easily if all precautions are not taken once a dog is found infected. Parvo’s incubation period is about 7 to 14 days and then parvo strikes suddenly, causing your pet to become extremely ill.

Without treatment, dogs often die within a few days. Dehydration is the number one cause of death with parvovirus. Dogs can also pass away from loss of blood, major organ failure, infection and low blood sugar.

PARVO SYMPTOMS
• Less playfulness and more lying around
• Severe vomiting, bile is yellowish
• Diarrhea with a very strong odor (It starts out with a yellowish or greenish looking stool then turns into a dark-brown-runny stool )
• Depression
• Sometimes a fever
• Extreme dehydration

PARVO TREATMENT
Because parvo is a virus, there is no cure. A virus must run its course, but the symptoms can be treated, which is why Ambertech Technology developed Parvaid, an aid for parvovirus, vomiting, diarrhea (bloody), loss of appetite, gas, bloat and intestinal cramping. We also recommend Vibactra Plus, an antibiotic with an anti-parasitic that can be used to treat an infection with microscopic parasites.

We recommend using Parvaid no matter which treatment method you use to treat your puppy. Download our Self Help Guide to Treating Your Dog with Parvo FREE!

Remember, this disease spreads easily and takes only a day or two to make your puppy very ill. So, act quickly to treat your puppy with Parvo.
