Osteo-arthritis
is a degenerative disease caused by the cellular breakdown of our
bodies. This breakdown of our cells also causes other degenerative
diseases of the body such as insulin resistant diabetes, the
shriveling and eventual mal-function of internal organs such as the
heart, liver, kidneys, cartilage, etc. The skin, as an organ, can
tell you of the condition of the rest of your body. If it is
wrinkled, sunken, thin, lost its elastin, has age spots, etc. then so
do the rest of your organs.
I watched a
program on aging on our local PBS station. In it they looked at the
human cell. Our cells have a little hair on the end of them that
shortens every time the cell divides. Scientists believe that our
cells live three years. Each cell has fifty divisions in them before
the hair disappears and the cell can no longer divide. If this is
true we should live to be about 150 years old give or take a few
years. So my question is why arent we? In studying
this problem I have come across some things that might help. I found
that even though we get older we dont have to be decrepit. We
have a mindset that says old and decrepit go together. This
doesnt have to be the case.
First of all
we need to look at what breaks our cells down. So far I have come up
with four major things. There may be more and I will update this as I
find them out.
The first one
is alcohol. We know that it kills brain and liver cells but it also
kills other cells in the body.
Second is
tobacco. Our cells need oxygen to function. Giving them carbon
monoxide and other contaminates will kill them off.
Third is drug
abuse. You cant feed your cells chemicals and expect them to
function properly.
Fourth is not
so obvious but is just as deadly. It is white sugar. The chemical
used to whiten sugar combines with the hydrochloric acid in your
stomach to create a goo that covers your cells much like a glazed
doughnut. When this hardens nothing can get in or out and the cell
dies. Exercise, especially weight training will break this down but
depending on how much sugar you eat you may not be able to break the
sugar crystals down as fast as you are destroying your cells.
Remember that the body has billions of cells and this process takes a
long time.
When cells die
the surrounding cells need to stretch to fill in where the cell was.
This causes thinning of our bodies. Skin gets thinner and delicate,
so do arteries, muscles, cartilage around the joints, internal
organs, etc. This breakdown causes a lot of the ailments of old age.
Eating a moderate amount of sugar may also cause the body to
eliminate calcium. In a study done by Dr. Garth Fisher it was found
that a person who eats a moderate amount of sugar will lose twice as
much calcium through the urine as they take in. This may be a major
cause of osteoporosis.
Most of you
will groan and say you cant live without your candy, or soda,
or cake or cookies. Good new is you dont have to in a lot of
cases. Other sweeteners dont have the same effect on the cells.
You can even have brown sugar. You will have to change your eating
patterns to accommodate the changes but they shouldnt be too
radical. You can make your own cakes, cookies and candy using honey,
corn syrup, or brown sugar. A lot of times you can still get what you
want by reading labels. The store brands of soda will usually be made
with corn syrup while name brands will have sugar in them. My husband
likes butter flake rolls. We have two stores near our house. One
store makes them with sugar and the other uses corn syrup. We buy the
ones made with corn syrup. Learn to like plain or cheese flavored
potato chips. Be creative in substituting healthier foods for the
ones you are giving up but most of all keep a positive attitude.
There are a
few ways to overcome the damage we have done to ourselves. First give
up the items mentioned above. If you build and destroy at the same
time it wont do you any good. You may not get much worse, but
you wont get any better either.
Second is
collagen. Every cell in the body needs collagen for its repair.
Unfortunately collagen is hard to digest and as you get older it
becomes even more difficult. As I was thinking about this it struck
me that if you could predigest collagen your body could utilize it
much better. This is what I came up with.
Collagen
In a blender
or food processor blend:
 |
1 med.
Pineapple peeled and cored. |
 |
2 Tbs. Papaya
seed powdered (Can get this at a health food store) |
 |
2 cups Food
grade aloe vera gel. |
 |
16 pkg. Knox
unflavored gelatin |
 |
1 12 oz. can
Frozen pineapple juice. |
Blend this all
together and allow it to sit for at least 24 hours in the
refridgerator. It will make about a half gallon but needs to be put
into a larger jar as it will shrink as it ages. This freezes well so
it can be divided into smaller portions.
Take 4 Tbs. at
bedtime. If you have a problem with cholesterol you may want to check
into getting a vegetable based gelatin through your health food store.
I have found
this quite helpful in relieving arthritic pains. Be patient with it.
It will be 4 to 6 weeks before you will notice much difference.
Another thing
you can do is take HGH. There are several brands on the market to
choose from. At about age 25 your bodies production of growth
hormones slows down until at age 70 you are producing very little. As
a result your body doesnt make enough new cells to replace the
ones that are being destroyed and this causes the body to break down.
HGH stimulates the pituitary to stimulate the liver to stimulate the
body to produce new cells. When you get the HGH the instructions will
tell you to take it 6-7 times a day six days on and one day off.
Following the above outlined plan you will only need to take it three
times a day, three days on and three days off. As HGH is quite
expensive (any where from 50 to 70 dollars + a bottle) using it this
way will make the 1 oz. bottle last close to six months. You may not
even need to use it this often. This may be a personal thing and you
will have to listen to your body to determine how much you will need
to take. You may only need to be on this plan for 6 months to a year.
After that you will only need it to maintain your current level and
using the full plan will only be needed once or twice a year.
Resuming any of the dietary changes will obviously start the
degeneration of the body all over again.
You can use
the following recipe to help with the pain of arthritis. It can be
used as often as you need. This makes quite a bit (About a gallon)
but we have found that it is also useful for bruises, sprains, even
broken bones, it heals cuts and scrapes, takes the itch and sting out
of insect bites, and is even good for chapped skin, although it
should not be used on chapped lips as it has arnica in it and arnica
should never be taken internally.
I have
arthritis in my neck and this relieves the discomfort and headache
that I sometimes get from that. If used for a period of a year or
more it may even restore limited use of frozen joints. It can also be
used on your animals but dont put the beeswax in it because it
will stick to their fur.
I use the
cream formula along with an oral formula that helps to rebuild the
cartilage like some of the expensive products on the market only it
costs next to nothing to make and doesnt taste too bad.
Arthritis Cream
This is
expensive but it does make almost a half gallon and you could go in
with a friend and cut the cost in half. It costs about 130.00 retail
to make. It smells somewhat like blue ice but not as strong.

|
 |
2 ¼ c. wild
cherry bark c/s
|
 |
¾ c.
marshmallow root c/s

2 1/8 c. devils

|
 |
2 c. milk weed root c/s
|
 |
¼ c.
sarsaprilla root c/s
|
 |
2 c. cats claw c/s
|
 |
3 c. yarrow c/s
|
 |
1 Tbs. oil of wintergreen
|
 |
1 gal. Cold pressed
extra virgin olive oil
|
 |
2 ½ lbs. bees wax
|
Put all dry
ingredients into a 1 gallon bottle and add as much of the olive oil
as you can get into it. Put a piece of Saran Wrap over the top and
put on the lid. Put into a sunny window for 2 weeks, shaking the
bottle to stir it several times a day. Add more oil as
needed. The dry ingredients will soak up some of the oil so more will
have to be added.
When two weeks
are up empty the bottle into a colander lined with a layer of muslin
and set on top of a large glass bowl or enamel. Allow to drain for 24 hours.
Melt the wax
and add to the oil. Add the chuchuhuasi and the wintergreen. Stir
with a wooden spoon until mixed and pour into jars.
Always be sure
to label and date.
